Elara fields rewilding

Elara Fields was once intensively managed farmland with limited biodiversity and fragmented habitats. The goal of the project was to restore ecological balance while creating a landscape that could naturally evolve over time. Rather than imposing a new identity, the design focused on revealing the site's existing environmental potential.

Extensive site surveys informed every decision, from restoring native grasslands to reconnecting woodland edges and improving seasonal wetlands. Plant communities were selected to support pollinators, birds, and local wildlife while strengthening the resilience of the surrounding ecosystem.

Natural watercourses were restored to improve drainage and reduce seasonal flooding, while new walking trails allowed visitors to experience the changing landscape without disturbing sensitive habitats. Every material and planting decision was made with long-term sustainability in mind.

As the restoration progresses, native wildflowers continue to establish, wildlife populations have steadily increased, and the landscape has become a living demonstration of ecological recovery. The project proves that thoughtful design can successfully balance conservation, accessibility, and environmental stewardship.
